The Botoxology Difference

Facial esthetics is best achieved with a combination of three amazing and distinctive treatments. Botoxology offers a comprehensive approach.

Botox will soften mild to moderate wrinkles by relaxing muscles,

but it cannot rebuild a loss of facial volume.

Facial volume is lost over time as the facial fat that once gave us

the chubby cheeks of our “baby face”  fades away.

Collagen production, which gives skin its youthful texture, also declines.

Facial bone structure slowly deteriorates over time. This also contributes to skin that begins to sag. Vertical lines and folds begin to form underneath  the nose and corners of the mouth.

Miracle creams sold on TV will not address the key causes introduced above. Your treatment goals are most likely to be met with a combination of Botox, fillers and smooth PDO threads.

  • Botox relaxes muscles and addresses many wrinkles
  • Fillers replace lost volume and thus soften more pronounced lines and wrinkles
  • Smooth PDO threads improve skin texture by boosting natural collagen production

Botox® & Xeomin®

Botox® is helpful in addressing mild to moderate wrinkles that occur when smiling, laughing, scowling or squinting.  These are dynamic (movement-induced) wrinkles. Static wrinkles or folds are present when the face is at rest. Static wrinkles should be treated with fillers and threads.

At Botoxology, Dr. Damon Spencer uses Botox® by Allergan Pharmaceuticals which is FDA approved and Xeomin® by Merz Pharmaceuticals which is also FDA approved. Xeomin® is the purest form of the  Botulinum A protein ever produced.

In media, you may have seen ads for Botox® and Botox Cosmetic and wondered “what’s the difference”? The answer is, they are the exact same product with different labels on the vial for marketing purposes.

The patient should be aware that Dysport is a third choice and is also FDA approved. It is 1/3 the strength of either Xeomin® or Botox®. So, Dysport is often priced differently by those who choose to offer it. Be advised that 3 times as much Dysport is required to equal the effects of Xeomin® or Botox®. This is akin to comparing apples to oranges.

Please schedule an appointment with Dr. Damon Spencer for a consultation to discuss your needs and goals.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers keep people looking younger because they address different conditions than Botox®. Fillers replace lost volume created  by naturally diminishing facial fat, collagen and bone structure. More  pronounced folds, like those occurring around the nose, lips and chin  are softened and improved by this technique.

All fillers used by Dr. Damon Spencer at Botoxology are composed of hyaluronic acid (HA) which occurs naturally in every living organism. HA is skillfully placed within developing skin folds to provide volume and plump skin.

HA’s effects last 6-12 months depending on each individual’s body chemistry and metabolism.

Fillers are very often used in concert with Botox® and smooth PDO threads to create unmatched results.

Please schedule an appointment with Dr. Damon Spencer to discuss the advantages and possibilities of this thoughtful approach.

Smooth Threads

Smooth threads stimulate the body to produce collagen naturally when placed just underneath the skin surface. They specifically address skin texture, hydration and smoothness. Botox and fillers do not repair skin texture.

Collagen provides skin structure, strength and elasticity, thus reducing sagging  and improving vitality. Collagen also speeds tissue repair and reduces  scarring, such as that caused by acne.

Factors which adversely affect collagen are time, sun exposure, smoking and alcohol.

Smooth threads are typically placed during 3 appointments, approximately 8  weeks apart. Their effects last up to 1-2 years, depending on individual body chemistry and metabolism.

Threads are the third technique used to improve facial esthetics as they are often used in combination with Botox® and fillers.
